We have an exciting opportunity for a Claims Manager to join the B&M team. This is a national, field‑based, full‑time permanent position reporting into the Group Head of Health & Safety. This is a newly created role with the opportunity to shape how B&M manages and prevents claims across Retail, Supply Chain, Grey Fleet and Transport operations.
We are looking for an experienced EL/PL/Motor claims professional with strong investigative skills, sound commercial judgement, and a proactive approach to risk reduction. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Acting as the internal lead for Employer’s Liability, Public Liability and Motor claims from initial notification through to resolution
- Reviewing evidence, CCTV, documentation and site conditions to assess liability and determine the most appropriate claims handling strategy
- Deciding whether claims can be managed in‑house or require referral to external solicitors, insurers or loss adjusters
- Conducting national site visits to investigate incidents and provide clear, factual investigation reports
- Working closely with Health & Safety, Operations, Customer Services and Legal to establish root causes and support risk‑reduction measures
- Analysing claims data, accident reports and near-miss trends to identify recurring issues and support proactive prevention
- Improving claims handling processes, ways of working, ownership routes and escalation frameworks
- Supporting Customer Services with guidance and coaching to help identify potential claims early and resolve issues pragmatically
- Driving early settlement opportunities where appropriate, reducing formal claims and associated legal costs
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience managing EL, PL and/or Motor claims
- Strong understanding of claims processes, liability assessment and investigation techniques
- Experience working alongside external solicitors, insurers and loss adjusters
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and root causes from claims and incident data
- Confidence operating independently within a field-based role, including extensive travel
- Experience within retail, logistics, supply chain or transport environments (desirable)
- Knowledge of accident investigation methodologies (desirable)
Please note this role involves extensive UK travel and weekly office attendance at our Support Centre in Speke.
